I Clean My Sea, an app to report plastics at sea
Whether you are sailors, vacationers, or boaters, you will all be able to take action to clean up the oceans thanks to the I Clean My Sea application.

There plastic pollution in the oceans touches you but you feel totally powerless in the face of the magnitude of the task? This is normal when you know that 253 kilos of plastic are dumped every second in the oceans.
A French startup has had the ingenious idea of creating the first "participatory" application for cleaning the oceans. I Clean My Sea works on the reporting waste via the app. And they are launching a global waste collection campaign that you can contribute to. So we can all become actors in this collection.
How it works ?
This application launched by Aymeric Jouon, oceanograph works in the simplest way possible. Once the application is downloaded (iOS Or Android), it will be enough to take pictures of waste found at sea. This data will be geolocated then transmitted to the ship “The Collector”, already operating in the Basque Country. The Collector will then intervene to collect this floating… and polluting plastic waste.

Concretely, the participation of all those who use the sea is essential. By taking a photo of the ship can intervene and recover the plastic. This plastic which will then be recycled into clothing, water bottles or other accessories stamped “100% marine source”.
Participants in this operation can also follow the drift of photographed waste, as well as their recovery. For the moment, the ship is scouring the waters of the Atlantic near the Basque Country. This strategic maritime passage is a source of enormous pollution, and the Collector recovers tons of waste every day thanks to the application I Clean My Sea.

"Vessels that collect plastics at sea don't know where to go to retrieve the waste. This results in a huge waste of time and money! With The Collector, I want to demonstrate that to be effective in collecting floating waste, you need to position yourself at river mouths." underlines founder Aymeric Jouon.

A very nice and concrete idea in which everyone can participate...
