October 27, 2020, we released a press release with our PR partner public-relations.pro. The news concerns our partnership with Maxsea, world leader in on-board navigation software!

It's hard to match the performance of this operation, well done Gautier Girard and his team !

I Clean My Sea partners with MaxSea / MyTimeZero, the world's leading publisher of on-board maritime software, to mobilize sea users in the detection of plastics at sea.

What if every sea user finally had the power to act to end the pollution that poisons the oceans and kills marine animals?

The partnership ofI Clean My Sea with MaxSea / MyTimeZero is a tremendous opportunity to accelerate ocean cleanup and the recycling of floating plastics.

MaxSea, the world leader in onboard maritime software, supports professional sailors and pleasure boaters around the world during their navigation.

I Clean My Sea invites boaters and professional sailors around the world to take photos of floating waste using the I Clean My Sea mobile app, to collectively fight against plastics polluting the oceans.

Concerned about preserving the marine environment, and close to the concerns of their customers, the MaxSea / MyTimeZero teams offered I Clean My Sea:

  • operational support through the provision of MyTimezero navigation software on board the collection vessel “The Collector”;
  • a communication relay with the community of MaxSea software users to invite them to take photos of floating waste with the I Clean My Sea mobile application.

We love what has amazed us, and we protect what we love.

Simplify the collection of floating waste through participatory, simple and free detection

With I Clean My Sea, cleaning the oceans is as easy as taking a selfie.

Simply take a photo of the floating debris using a mobile app and it will be immediately geolocated. Sailors aboard The Collector thus benefit in real time from a photo of the debris, its position, and a forecast of its drift trajectory.

They can then recover the plastic at sea, so that it can then be recycled by specialist companies to become a superb, long-lasting product, stamped I Clean My Sea “100% marine source”: t-shirts, shirts, water bottles, sweatshirts, vests, etc.

Aymeric Jouon, the founder, emphasizes:

The simpler and faster it is, the easier it is to unite and multiply small positive actions. Thanks to their repetition, they then constitute a powerful strike force without being costly for citizens or the community.

A relevant partnership for ever greater efficiency

The I Clean My Sea collection vessel operates in coastal areas and often close to shore in shallow water depths.

The use of MaxSea's MyTimeZero navigation software, thanks to its detailed nautical charts and the software's ergonomics, allows sailors to collect floating waste in shallow areas, limiting the risks of bottoming out and grounding.

In addition, the recording of navigation routes carried out by MyTimeZero also allows I Clean My Sea to comparatively evaluate the accuracy of the geo-location carried out by their mobile application “Collector”. This is used by its team of sailors on board the collection vessel to collect floating waste detected by sea users.

Create an inspiring virtuous circle

With I Clean My Sea, all sea users become true actors in the fight against plastic pollution. The approach is also educational, as they can track the predicted drift of the waste they have detected.

And above all, their involvement is rich in meaning:

  • floating plastics are collected to clean the oceans;
  • all existing devices are improving since it becomes possible to understand where and when plastic accumulations form;
  • The reports also make it possible to develop satellite detection and therefore to locate them “from space”.

About Aymeric Jouon, the founder of I Clean My Sea

20201021090349-p2-document-pjet

An oceanographer by training, Aymeric Jouon worked for five years in research (over 500 citations) and eight years in the private sector. He also served as head of a pollution control vessel for four years.

Today, he is the Director of Hydro-Cote, a company developing innovative services in the maritime environment.

Aymeric made a decision early on that would guide all of his personal and professional choices: to live in contact with the sea. More than a passion, his relationship with the ocean is a determining factor in his life choices.

From buying his first windsurf board at the age of 13, through his work as a sea lifeguard during his studies to his research work, his motivation is fueled by the emotions that the ocean gives him:

  • The feeling of surpassing oneself while windsurfing among the floes (ice floes) of the Oslo Fjord;
  • The feeling of wonder at the aquatic ballet performed by two manta rays in the deep blue off the coast of Ouvéa, New Caledonia during a freediving session;
  • The adrenaline rush of diving amidst the world's largest gathering of sharks in the southern pass of Fakarava in the Tuamotus of French Polynesia.

Aymeric confirms:

In response to the moments of wonder experienced in contact with the Ocean, I put my skills and energy at the service of protecting the marine environment with existing means while developing innovative tools and adopting a viable and sustainable economic strategy.
